Crafting the Ultimate Chili Charcuterie Board
My best girlfriends and I spend a lot of time together…traveling or getting together on the weekends. Although we all love an amazing dinner out, we also like to chill at one of our homes. We had a blast working together to create our beautiful board.
What you’ll need….
- Charcuterie Board ~ select a board that compliments your serving style. A rectangular board is perfect when your guests are dishing up from your island. If you’re serving up family style at the table, then selecting a round board is ideal {Suggested Charcuterie Board }
- Enamel Dutch oven ~ the correct pot will keep your chili warm while your guests are eating. Hello seconds! Additionally, choosing an autumn hued pot will create a beautiful centerpiece for your board. {Suggested Le Creuset Dutch Oven OR Lava Brand Dutch Oven }
- Small serving bowls ~ these help add structure to your board and are perfect to contain some of the toppings
- Serving utensils ~ some of the items on your chili charcuterie board will need serving spoons to make it easy for your guests to dish up.
- Serving bowls ~ Let your creative side show! For a fall-themed party select bowls that showcase the colors of the season. If you’re hosting a party for the big game, select bowls that match each teams’ colors…your guests can select a bowl based on their favorite team or who they want to win the game!
The Fixin’s…
- The Chili ~ use your favorite chili recipe
- Cornbread ~ offer traditional cornbread and zest things up with jalapeno cornbread, too
- Cheese ~ shredded cheese works best for the board…get creative here… Cheddar, co-jack, a Mexican blend or pepper Jack are all perfect choices
- Corn Chips ~ Fritos…regular or Scoops are my favorite!
- Diced onion ~ green onions add a splash of color but white or yellow are perfect too!
- Corn ~ either kernels or, a Mexican style street corn pairs really well
- Avocado ~ another splash of color
- Jalapenos
- Assorted crackers
- Whipped butter or elevate your butter to whipped honey butter!
Prepping for your gathering
- Make your chili ahead of time, allowing plenty of time for it to simmer, enhancing the flavors
- Bake your cornbread. If preparing cake style cut into large chunks. Muffin style works too!
- Dice or chop the onions
- Fill your small serving bowls…sour cream, jalapenos, corn
- Prepare salads or other side dishes
Assembling your Chili Charcuterie Board
- Place your board in the location you’ll be serving your guests
- Add your pot of chili on a hot pad…you can either place it at one end or in the center of the board
- Place the cornbread around the edges
- Scatter the small serving boards throughout the board
- Fill in the gaps with your grated cheese, corn chips, avocado, onions and crackers
Finishing Touches for your Gathering
- Set out serving bowls and utensils
- Create a signature cocktail or two
- Decorate with a fresh flower arrangement and candles
